Where the hell am I?
Oh yes, thats right BNB'ers, I'm back in Georgia this week for a
family event, and what better way to
incorporate this experience than do a dedication session to my
original home; Marietta, Georgia. It has been exactly year since
visiting Georgia, but 10 years since my fateful departure out of
the South and across the country in my eternal struggle to find out
where I belong.
The picture you see is of my hometowns most famous landmark, "The Big Chicken", which is morely used for directional purposes (IE: take a right at the big chicken). While this was on the west side of town, and I grew up on the more suburban rural east side of town, I still always remember that damn bird as a permanent fixture in my head when people ask 'where are you from?'
The town right now is filled to the brim with electric clouds thundering in the wet post storm heat. Everytime you look out the window, the sky is flashing, but there is no rain. There is however, the most amazing darkness as far as the eye can see inbetween the lightning and the distant fireflies swishing the forest about a half a mile up the road. This darkness is so foriegn to me, even though I grew up with it.
This set is in dedication to this town and the music that surrounded me in my youth. I hope you enjoy, as next week I'll be posting another set from Marietta dealing with the more electronic ambient house side of my teenage years here. Ah sweet nostalgia.
