Hello Beautiful,
Since being back in Atlanta, I've been honing in on those nostalgic sounds of the luscious progressive techno era of the 1990's. These tracks bring me back to those late night warehouse days filled with memories of soft white strobe lights merging with swirling thick waves of slow moving fog machine clouds among the dusty concrete floors. I used to listen to some of these tracks while driving the neon blurry metropolitan highways to various DIY destinations filled to the brim with over zealous denim and romantic analog driven soundscapes.
One of my favorite underground Atlanta hang outs in the 90's was
a place called Star Children, which was in an old downtown dentist
building that had it's interior removed.. In this place were
various rooms to wander off to, but my favorite area was the main
dance floor which held a strange kitchen filled with nothing but
water stations among a sea of old couches. Dj's like J-Luv, Mr.
Mistykiss, and Tommy Sunshine would spin into the wee hours of the
night until the sun would poke through the dusty industrial windows
of this brick fortress of a building.
This session of "Halcyon Days", which is dedicated to my days at
Star Children, focuses on modernized remixes of the 90's top techno
classics from 808 State, Orbital, and more. I hope you enjoy
listening as much as I enjoyed mixing this.
Love,
