A few weeks ago I landed in Atlanta, and headed up towards Marietta to facilitate home hospice care for my father, who after a long battle with cancer, has finally started the process of getting to the other side. It seems strange to me, that it was only a year ago that my sister too, would be gone from my family too.
Marietta, despite its pristine gleam and shine, has always carried with me, a bit of sadness.... and these streets that I drive on, .. well these were the streets that started my late night drives into the middle of nowhere to clear my head. These dark winding southern roads were the beginnings of where I fell in love with music.. because I spent MANY MANY years driving around them and compiling playlists to aid my nonsensical journey to nowhere.
Aiding my father is complicated, but the process itself is pretty easy once you get the hang of things. .. however whenever I have a free moment, I will drive for a bit, while playing the music that my head wants. .. and with that comes this set.
Much like "Elevator Up" which was about my sister... this one, entitled "Elevator Roads" is about my father, .. and the endless roads I drive around to help me get through the present, and help me close out the past.
