The beginning of my formative years were out in the mid 1990's out in the southern urban landscape of Atlanta, Georgia. Much like all our formative years, there was ALWAYS a soundtrack playing in my ears during it all.
I had run away as a kid from my home when I was a teenager, and navigating the world back then, while unsafe, brought a sense of romantic wonder in all the danger back then. I was definitely a rebellious weirdo who was absolutely madly in love with chaos.
I eventually ended up going to an alternative school in downtown Atlanta called "Horizons" which laid on DeKalb avenue in between the artistic folk art district of Little 5 Points/Inman Park and the chaotic Reynoldstown. My ventures to high school was on the MARTA train, and EVERY week I'd create a mixtape of what I was going to be listening to while riding it through the early morning darkness to the sunrise of my WEIRD WEIRD high school that I loved so much.
I loved Techno back then, but really was focused on those lovelorn electronic sounds that just would make my heart skip a beat. In particular, this song (track no. 2) "We Came from Outerspace" from the Pet Shop Boys (which were the QUEEEREST thing to listen to back then).. I remember getting this track ready at the big 5 PTS interchange station to transfer from my southbound train to eastbound EVERY day. .. so when the wind would rush past me, the music would just hit 'perfectly'... and the romantic crooning of Neil Tennant combined with the lyrics "Do you know the difference between two genders? We came from outer space" would play.
It was in these moments, that music meant the most to my weirdo
brain, and where the budding of that feeling.... that feeling of
electric ecstasy blossoming into a thousand lightning infused
butterflies in my stomach. .. would happen.
After all these years those feelings haven't gone, and I'm glad
this little show is around to show that. This set is a mix of both
old and new retromodernized soft techno for your lovely ears. I
hope you enjoy loves.
