Oh Chicago. How I love thee, let me count the queens.
Finally after months of talking about this set, its finally here! At first when I wanted to do this session, it was during my 10 month stay in Athens, GA in where it was more about a reminiscent session about my days in Chicago that I missed. Now that I'm back home, I've concentrated on the tracks that were specific or sounded like my favorite nights out at "Queen" at Smart Bar in Chicago, as well as the NeedlExchange and Fagbash collaborations out in Washington D.C.
"Chicago Drag" is about those amazing nights, and the queens that are a part of them.
This first session is dedicated to one of Chicago's edgiest, queercentric, and creative queens, Lucy Stoole. I first met them at Smart Bar for Queen, and was floored by their entirety. .. Lucy was no ordinary queen, but a bearded wonder painted for the gender bending gods. Every time I'd revisit this club and dance deep until the early morning, I'd see Lucy twirling in some abstract concoction that just was a level beyond brilliance. In essence, when anyone sees Lucy out at the club, they know they are going to have an amazing time.
I hope you enjoy this session.... it borders on some lovely french, deep, and disco house,... which you'll definitely hear out in the wonderful clubs in Chicago.
