Loveless FM + The Beautiful Noise Broadcast

Jul 17, 2014

Travel is my therapy, and the road is my therapist. I find myself searching for those lovely tracks best suited for droning out while in the middle of nowhere and this latest set is a collection of those therapeutic sounds. And what better way to really start a great beat filled journey than a remix of the Cocteau Twins?

For the most part, this session has been focused around track two, which is Mark E's "Black Country Roots".

I found this song on accident.

Last October I found myself distraught in Palm Springs. A guy had broken my heart.. and I found myself leaving this posh poolside room to my car to desperately find cigarettes, a vice which I recently had quit, but in the heat of the moment was much wanted.

I got in my car, turned it on, whipped out of the driveway, and sped off into the night. My heart was in knots, which was so rare for me to feel that way. Teary eyed I drove past the Warm Sands District, and out into the various nothingness of closed strip malls and churches.

I flipped on the radio, and KCRW's station out in Indio came on. I can't remember the dj who played this song, but Mark E's track was playing .. and I remember just forgetting everything that had been going on....

...because it was such a good song.

It sounds ridiculous. I get that. Even as I type this I am wincing from the cliche ridiculousness. But in thinking back on how such an awful time was quelled by such a simple song...

Well.. I'm glad this show can exist, as hopefully its done the same for you.
