Gentle Cycle Orchestra is a dedication set to DJ Steve Mak out in SF. The title of this broadcast was from his night, which was off of 19th and Valencia in the Mission District. Steve Mak had this amazing refined musical taste which was composed of chill out, space pop, and mellow disco. Without him, the BNB wouldn't have existed.
I just spent sometime out in San Francisco, driving around the city with him listening to some of his new sets, which were mind blowing. One of the newest things he was into was the remixes by Todd Terje, a Scandinavian dj who's general interests are "Coconuts, Hawaiian sunsets, moose, dolphins, unicorns, and practically everything in a sunset". On this set, I have one of the tracks Steve played, which was a Todd Terje remix of Italo Disco sensation, Isabelle Antena. I have been playing the hell out of this track!
Also on this set is the very rare live track of Fondue Knight(Night), by Goldfrapp. This was supposed to be a part of her freshman album "Felt Mountain"(still my favorite album of hers), but was never completed. I have secured a live track of this, and am leaving it as a free download below (7 days, 100 downloads max from today is the limit for now)
And lastly, Bent has come out with a FANTASTIC best of album. I get very nervous about retrospective albums, mainly because it sometimes symbolizes the end of an artists career at times (and I'm madly in love with Bent). However, if this is INDEED the end of their career, it is a great bang of beautiful noise.
